Pemba:

According to Managing dead bodies after a disaster there no health hazard from dead bodies.

Read it. It's an excellent book. I read it on an airplane, I suppose the person sitting next to me was a little weirded out, but oh well.

Thanks for the comments on management of dead bodies. I have order a copy and am trying to down load one right now. I would have like to say that i will respond to your comment after i have read the manual. i would have like to say that my comments where partly based on the eye witness account of one south african national who lost a partner in the tsunami and the chaos that existed after the disaster. The aid agencies that were on the scene had not witnessed such a disaster and most of them were not prepared with what they found on the ground. According to the report, dead bodies were everywhere and not tagged.
Like i said,i will look for the report and respond later. Otherwise thanks for the comment

pAllen,

I managed to read the manual and its is a very interesting document. My comment was that one could get diseases from the dead bodies and this position is supported by the document under the heading "RISK TO THE PUBLIC" The document says the risk to the public is negligible and does not say its none existant. it goes on and talks about the likely diseases that may be contracted from the bodies.
